Some of the preliminaries are settled.

It’s now down to 68 days - it’s definitely getting closer! The leave request forms were signed so my time off is officially approved. I’ve been finalizing some of the details for the first few days after arrival. Read more to find out about them.

I arrive in London on September 18th and a budget hotel is booked for four nights. I’ve ordered my four day travel card for the Tube since that’s required to be done well in advance. Ann and Christine will arrive on the 21st and stay in the hotel for the last of four nights. The 22nd will be a day for wandering London and then we’ll leave for Ireland at night combining a cheap train plus ferry combination - which reminds me that I need to call the UK in the morning this week to get those 16 pound tickets since they’re not available on-line and require 14 day advance purchase.

Upon arriving in Dublin at 6am on the 23rd, I suspect we’ll find breakfast before buying rail and bus combo passes at the train station and going straight to Galway on Ireland’s west coast. Once there we’ll stay three nights in a 6 bed dorm at a central hostel. The 50th Galway Oyster Festival is the 23rd through 26th and while we won’t be at the events (tickets are $100 or more with dress codes) there will be a lot of music and festivities at the pubs in the evenings. A day trip to the Cliffs of Moher will be mixed in and I’ll be one of the risk taking fools bellying over the edge.

A hotel is booked in London for October 9th which is my last night before flying home. I am looking into changing my return day from the 10th to the 11th though so it will match Ann and Christine. The rest of what happens between the 26th and 9th will be determined soon but hopefully will include Belfast and Edinburgh in Scotland. No matter what it’s going to be an insane amount of fun and I’m looking forward to all the experiences. If last year’s London and Edinburgh trip are any indication than this is going to be absolutely amazing!
